Introducing the Aromacup, a sustainable coffee cup made from Bamboo-O, offering an eco-friendly and durable alternative to traditional travel mugs. When its lifecycle comes to an end, the Aromacup can be conveniently composted at home. Its user-friendly locking mechanism makes it an ideal choice for coffee lovers on-the-go.
After extensive research and development, Earthmade's manufacturers have pioneered Bamboo-O, an innovative eco-friendly material combining starch's flexibility with bamboo's toughness. Bamboo-O mimics the rigidity of plastic but is entirely compostable.
Earthmade partnered with Beta to disrupt the coffee packaging industry, and following the success of the Aromabox, their product range has expanded to serve on-the-go coffee enthusiasts in the drinkware market.
The primary objectives were to design a coffee cup that offers leakproof functionality, distinctive aesthetics, and ease of use, all the while infusing the Aromacup with subtle cues from the Aromabox.
The form and sealing mechanism has been refined through extensive iterative prototyping and as a result, the final product serves its fundamental purpose as a travel coffee mug, safely holding hot liquids, whilst staying true to Earthmade's sustainability principles.
The Aromacup offers a simple twist-to-open valve and a thin, cup-like rim, deviating from the typical travel mug drinking experience. Its lid, equipped with removable silicone seals and a keyhole locking mechanism, guarantees leakproof functionality.
It's designed for easy disassembly, facilitating thorough cleaning of every part. The cup's soft form contrasted with a striking ribbed texture ensures a comfortable and safe grip whilst on-the-go.
In contrast to the Aromabox's colour palette, the Aromacup range introduces five vibrant unisex pastel tones, offering a refreshing departure from standard travel cup options on the market.
The cups are sustainably coloured during the injection moulding process using food-safe colouring and can be conveniently washed in a dishwasher, handling temperatures of up to 120 degrees Celsius.
